Our Staff

Pastor Brynestad was born and raised outside of Seattle, Washington. He loved playing various sports, which led him to San Antonio after two years at Pacific Lutheran University. He joined the Army ('77) and was assigned to the Olympic Training Center at Ft. Sam Houston to compete in the Modern Pentathlon. In San Antonio, he met and married Julee. After the 1996 Olympic Trials, the Brynestads moved to St. Louis to attend Concordia Seminary. Upon graduation in 2000, he served LCMS congregations in Devine, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Bremerton, WA, and New Braunfels, TX. The Brynestads have six children and five grandchildren.

Daniel studied church music under the direction of Dr. David Mennicke at Concordia University, St. Paul, where he became certified to serve as a Director of Parish Music within the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. He is the recipent of Concordia's Pro Artibus Award for his achievements in music. Born to a pastor in the LCMS, music was integral to his upbringing, as he grew up immersed in the singing and learning of the Lutheran hymnody. He received various honors at state high school competitions in both vocal and clarinet performance. Prior to Cross Lutheran, he served in a similar role at Peach Lutheran Church in Bremerton, WA, for nine year, where he led the choir, handbells, school music program, and served as the primary organist. His works include various hymn arrangements and settings composed for his parish choir and students. His passion and calling is centered on "singing the faith". Soli Deo Gloria!

Hello, Cross Community! I am truly blessed to serve as the Principal at Cross Lutheran Church and School. While this is my first year working at Cross, I am not new to this campus. I had the privilege of being one of the members of the second graduating class at Cross Lutheran twenty years ago. I received by bachelor's degree in education from Concordia University Texas, and received my master's degree in administration from Concordia University Nebraska. This is my thirteenth year in education, and I have spent time teaching in middle school classrooms and in administration as Principal. One of my favorite Bible verses is Ephesians 2:10, which reminds us of the work God has planned and given to each one of us. I love the work where He has called me - sharing the good news of the Gospel with students and families while supporting our awesome team of teachers and staff in any way I can! My wife, Emily, and I are excited to be joining this community. We have four kids: Judah, Elsie, Isaac and Levi. They keep us busy! We love spending time at parks, playing board games, and anything that has to with Pokemon. In my free time, I like to visit coffee shops with my wife, watch or play basketball, anything and everything involving the San Antonio Spurs (the greatest sports team of all time) and golf.

Corinne is joyfully in her 15th year in ministry at Cross this year.  She and her husband Tim, have three children: Madison, Christian, and Meagan.  She enjoys working with families and seeing the positive impact Cross Lutheran Church and School has on their lives.  She enjoys spending time with family and friends.
